Based in East Finchley, North London, Avril has family connections in far-flung parts of the British isles, including West Wales, the North of England, mainland Scotland, the Outer Hebrides and Orkney.

Avril is pictured (right) with an Emily Young sculpture, part of an exhibition of nine at Neo Bankside, near Tate Modern, which runs until 2020.
